The Samaj Centre is 42 years old this year (2025) and is centrally located in Rylands, with easy access (including wheelchair friendly) and parking all around the centre. This centre hosted many struggle meetings under the banner of the United Democratic Front (UDF) during apartheid and is truly a community venue in the Rylands area hosting weddings, birthday parties and community functions. The Centre was also recently renovated to ensure it remains attractive and user friendly.

The Hall:
The Samaj Centre Hall has over the years, been hired as the ideal venue for cultural and social functions.
Capacity and Features (Included in the hire fee)
- The hall accommodates 450 seats, cinema style.
- 500 chairs are available.
- There are 35 long trestles available.
- Ample parking all around the centre.
- Theatre style stage with stairs on both sides and backstage facilities
- Wheelchair access into the hall.
- Hall hire includes the kitchen, including fridges and gas stoves (Gas not provided)
The boardroom (Upstairs)
The boardroom is located on the first floor (no lift available) that is ideal for smaller meetings and engagements. The boardroom opens up onto a spacious coffee bar area that includes a mini kitchenette.

- The room accommodates 30 chairs comfortably (40 max).
- A small boardroom table, chairs and a lectern are provided.
The Temple (Ground Floor)
Our temple is located on the ground floor, and currently hosts a number of prayer meetings through various religious organisations, including those hosted by the Cape Town Hindu Seva Samaj.
If you’re hosting a small family prayer or thanksgiving service, the temple is ideal. The temple is unfortunately not available for wedding celebrations.
